When the golden sun sets upon the harvest fields and the balance of seasons is put to the test.
Mabon arrives as summer slowly takes its leave and the Earth begins to dress in autumn colors.
It is the time of the Equinox, when light and darkness meet in perfect balance,
reminding us that every cycle of nature brings with it a moment of fullness,
transformation, and change.
In Celtic tradition and modern Neopagan celebrations,
Mabon is associated with the second harvest: it is the moment to gather the fruits ripened during the bright months
and contemplate what the Earth has generously bestowed.
It is a festival of gratitude, but also of awareness: what we have sown
is now ready to be harvested, shared, and preserved.
Mabon invites us to pause, look back at what we have experienced, and recognize the gifts present in our lives.
It is a time to thank the Earth, the Sun, nature, and
all the forces that accompany the passing of the seasons.
But it is also a threshold: after this day, the night will slowly begin to prevail
over the light, and nature will teach us the art of letting go.
The leaves falling from the trees do not represent an end,
but a necessary transformation.
We, too, can let fall what no longer belongs to us:
old thoughts, fears, habits, and bonds with what has now completed its cycle.
Mabon is therefore a festival of balance and gratitude,
of harvest and sharing, of light preparing to retreat
and darkness slowly returning to embrace the Earth.
In the golden silence of September, Mabon reminds us of a simple and
profound truth: every harvest comes from a seed,
every end prepares a new beginning, and every season has its own gift to offer us.
It is time to harvest, give thanks, share, and let go.
