Imbuing

Imbuing is a magical crafting skill added with the Ultima Online: Stygian Abyss expansion. In addition to the use that gives power to the Mysticism spell as an alternative to Focus, it allows you to adjust or add specific properties to objects.

It requires specific resources and gems, some can be found in minichamp or boss mob loots, while others are obtained through crafting or through the Imbuing Untraveling system.

Similar to the Blacksmithy skill, it requires the use of a "Soul Forge" to imbue or unweave items, plus the Gargoyle race has the "Master Artisian" racial ability which increases the chance of success in unweaving or imbuing items. The imbuing power scroll is obtained by completing the quests Secrets of the Soulforge, Knowledge of the Soulforge and Mastering of the Soulforge.

In addition to the classic system, Imbuing also allows you to enhance the use of Runic Kits through its innovative "Runic Reforging" craft system which allows you to enchant weapons, armor or shields with the use of one or more runic charges based on the options you choose. Giving the opportunity to craft armor, weapons or shields with the new Stygian Abyss properties such as Casting Focus and Eaters on armor or Soul Charge and Eaters on shields, to craft Balanced two-handed weapons and above all to give a new cap to the properties present on armor, weapons and shields, as well as the rare possibility of being able to create items with one more property than the normal craft system.

In addition to the normal public Soulforge of Royal City on Ter-Mur it will also be possible to craft one to place it in the house, also in the royal palace of Royal City we can find another type of forge, the Royal Soulforge which allows you to be more successful in processing items with Imbuing but can only be used by bomb squad with a Noble level in the Loyality Point System.

Cosa si puņ fare con Imbuing?

Imbuing allows you to enhance the properties present on an object or to add others if there is any space for an additional property. By working on the items it will be possible to lower certain intensities to gain a possible space (even if a property cannot be completely removed, excluding resistances). Here is everything you can do using Imbuing followed by some examples:

  • Imbuing increases in difficulty by adding modifications to an item.
  • In case of failure the used imbuing reagents will be lost
  • When adding a property to an object for the first time, the (Imbued) tag will appear on the item
  • Powder of Fortified cannot be used on imbued objects
  • In the case of a GM Crafter, the Damage Increase will be considered a property of the item, so the artificer can enter only 4 properties at most.
  • Imbuing removes the "Self Repair" prop if it is already present in the item.
  • You cannot burn Self Repair props
  • The property Mage Armor, even if with weight equivalent to 0 will still be considered a property.
  • To insert or remove the Mage Armor property it will be necessary to pay the sum of 250,000 gold to the Mage Guildmaster
  • Spellbooks cannot be imbued.
  • Craftable artifacts can be imbued with recipes except Scrappers and the Pendant of the Magi
  • You can increase resistances, but not the type of damage (poison damage or other).
  • For example, if an item has a 35-40% Damage increase by default, with Imbuing you can raise the property up to 50% or reduce it.
  • An "enchanted" item can be imbued or vice versa an imbued item can be enchanted.
  • Scale armor can be imbued.
  • Bone armor can be imbued
  • Leather armor can be imbued
  • Iron armor can be imbued
  • Cloth hats can be Imbued.
  • all types of helmets can be Imbued.
  • Magic rings crafted with tinkering can be Imbued (e.g. Ecru citrine Ring)
  • Empty Rings and Bracelets can be dropped, as well as loot ones if they have space or less than 5 properties
  • Rings and Bracelets crafted or from loot before these fixes will be lootable but you will not be able to add and/or modify skill values
  • All types of shields can be imbued
  • All types of weapons can be imbued, weapons crafted or found in loot as long as they have fewer than 5 properties
  • It is possible to imbue Reforged items with overcapped properties as long as they meet the weight requirements required by Imbuing and do not already have 5 properties

With the use of this skill it will also be possible to exploit different game mechanics, for example it will be possible to add the Balanced property on 2-handed melee weapons or increase the cap of some properties already normally present on objects such as Hit Mana Leech and Hit Life Leech, which for example on a weapon with weapon speed 5.0 (without swing speed increase) can also reach a value of 100%, a value that will automatically decrease if the Swing Speed Increase property is subsequently inserted on the weapon or obtain a maximum value of Hit Mana Leech/ Hit Life Leech lower if Swing Speed Increase is already on weapon. (If the Hit Mana Leech/ Hit Life Leech property is inserted on a 5.0 weapon with Swing Speed Increase, this will never reach 100% of the property because the total weapon speed is calculated between weapon speed and swing speed increase)

This skill does not allow you to imbue objects with resistance intensity equal to those of the craft, in fact, for example by adding resistances to a leather armor piece, it will not be possible to obtain them as high as in a crafted piece, in fact on leather pieces the maximum intensity can have a resistance it will be 19, in case you try to add a property on a runic craft that already has 3-4 props but which already has basic resistances obtained as a runic bonus or from the bonus of the skin used, it could happen that the system recognizes them as properties.
In fact, by imbuing even 1 single point on a resistance, the system will calculate that point as a props already present on the armor piece.

Instead, working on iron or scale and bone armor, it will be possible to obtain higher resistance values, but in this case if the armor piece already has the "Mage Armor" property as its basis, even if in the imbuing system it has a weight equal to zero, however it is equivalent to a property, therefore it will be possible to add only 4 further properties.

Going for example to work on a weapon, the Damage Increase bonus in the case of an exeptional weapon is seen as a property already present on the weapon, so if you want to imbue a Leafblade of Ease you will already have two basic props, i.e. Damage Increase and Use Best Weapon Skill, the Damage Increase value can still be lowered to gain space for the additional 3 properties to be inserted or raised up to 50%.

In the case of ranged weapons (archer or throwing weapons) it will be possible to insert a maximum of 4 properties, in this case a NON Exceptional bow, despite having less space than an Exceptional bow, can have higher intensities in the props, obviously renouncing Damage Increase.

You can reach a luck level of 100 on Melee weapons, and 120 on Ranged weapons, which will be added to the luck bonus given by the material, allowing you to obtain a maximum of 140 on Melee weapons and 160 on Ranged weapons.

On 2-handed weapons it is possible to insert the Balanced property, so far present in the normal craft only on bows, it will also be possible to obtain it on Melee weapons.

Finally, it is possible to add magical properties to the Cleavers, which, not being craftable so far, obtained properties only within the loot.

Come funziona Imbuing?

Il Peso - Weight

Each piece of armor, weapon or jewel has its own "Weight" called "Weight" which is the ceiling of maximum intensity that the object in question has. So the various properties that an object possesses also have their own weight (for example if Use Best Weapon Skill is imbued on a weapon it will have a weight of 1.4x, or on a one handed exeptional weapon it will occupy 140 points out of a maximum of 450) . This list shows the various maximum intensity ceilings by weight of the objects that can be imbued:

    WEIGHTS OF ITEMS

  • The maximum weight of non-exceptional or loot items (excluding jewels, bows and 2-handed weapons) is 450
  • The maximum weight of exceptional armor, hand weapons, or jewels is 500
  • The maximum weight of non-exceptional bows is 500, while for exceptional bows it is 550
  • The maximum weight of a non-exceptional two-handed weapon is 550, while for an exceptional two-handed weapon it is 600
  • some of the property weights will not reflect the original OSI present weights

The weapon in the example above, despite having a Use Best Weapon Skill given by exceptional crafting, already has a lot of occupied weight, having a property that occupies 140 points out of 450 (not being an exe weapon), if for example the weapon had been exceptional and presented with Use Best Weapon Skill (100% intensity) and Damage Increase 40 (80% intensity, having cap at 50) the points occupied would have been 230/500 (being an exe weapon).

In this case the weapon therefore has 140 points of Use Beast Weapon Skill (100%), plus 80 data points of 40% Damage Increase (80%) plus 80 data points of 50% Hit Mana Leech (73%), therefore with a total of 310 occupied space out of 450.

Properties and Required Ingredients

Each property that you want to add to an object requires its own ingredients, some are obtained by mining, cutting wood or fishing, while others are obtained from the Untraveling system, by dissolving artifacts and objects with high intensities or in the loot of different monsters on Ter-Mur , especially in the Mini-Champs of the Abyss Dungeon.

Increasing the strength of the property you want to add will require many more ingredients and for high strengths of high strength reactants.

Dismelting Objects - Untraveling

A particular ability of imbuing is that of undoing objects through the "untraveling" system, obtaining from their destruction magical ingredients that can be used to infuse magical properties into other objects. Once the objects have been unpacked, the 3 main imbuing ingredients (each ingredient weighs 1 stone) will be obtained:

  • Magical Residue, obtainable from a skill level of zero and up
  • Enchanted Essence, obtainable from about 45 skill points and up
  • Relic Fragments, obtainable from about 95 skill points and up

Each of these reagents also requires the unraveling of objects of different intensity or weight (Weight), in case the required skill is too low to unravel an object a warning gump will appear where it is said that the object can be lost by continuing without get nothing from the Untraveling system.

  • With an item with an intensity of 199 = Magical Residue
  • With an item of intensity from 200 to 449 = Enchanted Essence
  • With an item with an intensity of 450 or higher = Relic Fragment
